The annual Glór na nGael awards ceremony took place in Óstán na Cúirte, Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday night 26 March 2022. Comharchumann Mhic Dara, An Cheathrú Rua, Co. Galway, took this year’s top award along with a cheque for €15,000. A prizefund totaling €80,000 was awarded to Irish Language community groups and 3rd level societies in recognition of their achievements in the promotion and development of the Irish language.
Other big winners on the night were Ionad Naomh Pádraig, Dobhar, Coiste Forbartha Charn Tóchair, Derry and An Droichead, Belfast, among others.
The special award ‘Gradam Glór na nGael’ was presented to Bláthnaid Ó Brádaigh and Helen Ó Murchú, in recognition of their lifelong work in the Irish language sector.
Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh was the special guest at the event, while funders and partner organisations were also present at the event including An Roinn Turasóireachta, Cultúir, Ealaíon, Gaeltachta, Spóirt agus Meán, Foras na Gaeilge and Údarás na Gaeltachta.
