Glór na nGael is delighted to announce that its Parents’ Scholarship Scheme will open once more in 2024 for parents who wish to attend an Irish language course in the Gaeltacht.
The Scéim na Scoláireachtaí Tuismitheora will officially open at the end of February when applications will be accepted from parents of families in which Irish is the spoken language or whose children are attending a Gaelscoil.
The scheme will give parents the opportunity to use one of the scholarships in order to improve their own command of the language.
The scholarships are valued up to €500, depending on the course, and will be awarded to those who meet the criteria.
The scholarship can help either course costs or accommodation costs. As such, the scheme can give families an opportunity for a parent to attend an Irish language course while the family enjoys the Gaeltacht experience.
Information on the list of Gaeltacht colleges the scholarships and the application form will cover will be published at the end of February. All main dialects will be included on that list.
The number of scholarships will be limited and people are asked not to leave their application to the last minute. Likewise we request that people do not apply if they do not intend to use the scholarship as this will result in others losing out.
Glór na nGael is grateful to Foras na Gaeilge for funding this scheme.
