Lá Mór na Gaeilge in Dublin

Baile Átha Cliath le Gaeilge organised an outstanding event on the Big Day for Irish on 11th of May 2025.
Irish-speaking families from all over Dublin gathered together in the Dublin Food Market to celebrate the language in a positive and vibrant spirit. A large number of families from the Teanga Tí networks were present, and people of all age groups thoroughly enjoyed the day.

The families met at 11:45 outside the Light House cinema. There was a friendly atmosphere, and it was a chance for parents and children to reconnect or, in some cases, meet each other for the first time.

The film Rún Ceannannais was shown on the big screen. Rún Ceannannais is an adventure story following Brendan, a young boy living in a monastery in County Clare in the 9th century. The children really enjoyed it – and the parents did too!

When the film ended, we gathered again outside the cinema, where the fun and excitement continued. The Fanzini Brothers gave us a wonderfully funny performance that drew laughter and amazement from both young and old audience members.

After that, Julie Anne de Brún combined music, storytelling, and magic, casting a virtual spell over the young crowd. Julie Anne has a real gift for captivating and inspiring children through Irish, and she once again showed the importance of a positive and playful approach.

This was truly an effective day for building community, promoting the Irish language, and strengthening the possibilities for the language in urban family life. Teanga Tí greatly appreciates the work and dedication that BÁC le Gaeilge put into providing such an excellent event for Irish-speaking families in Dublin. May days like this live long!
