Sean-Nós na Fearsaide 2024

With the city of Belfast seeking to attract Oireachtas na Samhna 2025 and 2026, a mini Belfast Oireachtas is now underway in the north of the city for the tenth year in a row.

Sean-Nós na Fearsaide will start this year on a day like no other, the 29th of February.

Cumann Cultúrtha Mhic Reachtain has made a huge effort to create a small, strong Gaeltacht on the Antrim Road with classes, events, competitions, concerts and the Caifé Ceoil now thriving.

This year the festival has an emphasis on singing with Corn an Oireachtais (a competition for primary school choirs) on Thursday and under 12, 15 and 18 competitions on Saturday. The competitions will end with Corn Cuimhneacháin Mhéabh Uí Chriagáin for sean-nós singing for those over 18.

As well as singing competitions, there will be an album launch, music, storytelling, agallaimh beirte and a night of dancing in which a host of dancers, storytellers and singers will be seen and heard.

Glór na nGael has been supporting the Association for many years and they came first in the Irish Language Events and Speaking Opportunities section of the Glór na nGael Competition last year.
