Glór na nGael has decided to organize the Awards Ceremony for the Glór na nGael National Competition on 26 March 2022. This is the first awards event organized by Glór na nGael since March 2019, which was held at the Glasson Hotel, Co. Westmeath.
Announcing the Awards Ceromony, Eoghan Mac Cormaic, the organization’s Deputy CEO, said;
“The ceremony will be held in Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal where the 2021 prizes, worth € 60,000 +, will be awarded and the national winner will be announced. But in addition, their awards will be presented to the winners of the 2020 and 2019 competitions.”
The Covid-19 pandemic was of course the reason for the cancelation of the 2019 and 2020 ceremonies. However the winner did receive their cash prizes.
The winners of the prizes of the different sections of the 2021 competition, the shortlist for the overall national winner and the winners of the competition for third level institutions will be announced on Raidió na Gaeltachta.
According to Mac Cormaic, “this year’s Glór na nGael Awards Ceremony, the largest celebration for Irish language and Gaeltacht sector community groups, will be of great interest. To celebrate this special post-Covid ceremony, social events will be organized over the weekend in conjunction with the Meitheal Pleanála Teanga Iarthuaisceart (North West Donegal Language Planning Group). ”
More information on the weekend’s events will be available soon. In the meantime, Irish language and Gaeltacht groups are asked to put the weekend 25-27 March 2022 in the diary.
