Competition

The Glór na nGael competition was established over 50 years ago to recognise the work of community groups and committees across Ireland in the development of the Irish language.

The Glór na nGael National Competition structure has been updated for 2020.  Please find all details regarding the new competition structure in the following brochure:

Glór na nGael Competition Registration 2020

The competition has grown and evolved substantially over the years to now include a prize fund of over €80,000 with themes encompassing many aspects of community life and categories for third level clubs and societies, Irish language committees abroad and at home in Ireland. There are also an extensive list of special awards up for grabs on an annual basis.

Glór na nGael’s staff are available to help committees to register for the competition, to assist in planning, to provide advice and information about schemes, funding, facilities for groups, families or businesses. Our staff regularly visit each registered committee throughout the year to provide advice and assistance.

Glór na nGael’s adjudication groups visit each committee towards the end of the year to access the progress made and award marks towards the competition. A written report is provided to each committee detailing their progress and providing any further advice or recommendations.
