On 21st March 2026, the Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha National Conference will once again take place in Croke Park between 12.00 – 4.00 p.m. This conference will be aimed at GAA clubs hoping to obtain FSMD bronze, silver or gold medals during 2026.
Following the success of last year’s conference, which brought together representatives from clubs across the country to share best practice and inspire each other, another exciting day of information and collaboration is expected again this year. The aim of the event is to provide practical guidance to clubs as they undertake the new FSMD goals and promote the Irish language in all aspects of their club life.
This year we will have special guest speakers: Seamie Ó Néill, Irish Language & Culture Officer with Dublin County Board, and Conor Ó Gallachóir, Irish Language and Culture Officer with Donegal County Board. Both will share their experiences and insights on how to place the Irish language at the centre of club activities and culture. Seamie’s club, Baile Buadáin Naomh Éanna GAA, has won the Fondúireacht gold medal and Conor’s club, Cloich Ceann Fhaola GAA, has won the silver medal.
In addition to the guest speakers, there will be small group discussion sessions, specifically focused on the three levels – bronze, silver and gold. This will give clubs the opportunity to openly discuss goals, challenges and opportunities, and learn from other clubs on the same journey. We strongly encourage the attendance of representatives from clubs aspiring to achieve a medal this year.
This conference will be a valuable opportunity for clubs to gain structure and guidance as they prepare for the 2026 assessment, and to strengthen support networks across the Association. It is hoped that a positive, collaborative and high-energy atmosphere will once again be felt at GAA headquarters.
Refreshments will be provided on the day and registration is available here.
