3 year support pledged by GAA to the Joe McDonagh Foundation

Glór na nGael is delighted to announce that an Cumann Luathchleas Gael (GAA) have pledged to support the Joe McDonagh Foundation for the next three years.

“This pledge means that Glór na nGael will be in a position to add to the number of clubs that can avail of the support that the foundation provides and therefore help enhance and perpetuate the status of and the use of the Irish language within the clubs.” said Frainc Mac Cionnaith, Glór na nGael Development Manager.

“It is a matter of pride for us that the GAA recognizes and acknowledges the importance and the value of the work being carried out with the clubs by our Development Officers and we are looking forward to working closely with Jamie Ó Tuama, the newly elected GAA Oifigeach Forbartha Gaeilge (Irish Language Development Officer).”

There are over 90 clubs from 25 counties registered with the Joe McDonagh Foundation and they are making great use of the support being provided. As well as awarding grants and medals the Foundation will ensure that clubs are provided professional and helpful advice every step of the way on their language journey.

By registering with the Foundation clubs are giving a commitment to actively promote the Irish Language and to make it an important aspect of the daily life of your club.  Seize the opportunity! Sign up and declare your club’s support for the Irish Language.

Contact Glór na nGael to speak to us about registering.  There is a €30 fee to register with the Foundation per calendar year.
